A Winter Wedding at Oxwich Bay Hotel: Frances and Tom’s Beautiful and Intimate Celebration
The weather in February can be unpredictable, and this year, it decided to gift Frances and Tom’s wedding day with a downpour, nearly for the whole day. But as every wedding photographer knows, it’s not the weather that makes a day unforgettable—it’s the people and these guys were a fantastic!
I always tell couples that when it comes to rainy days, there’s something kind of magical about it. The mist hanging over the beach, the quiet serenity of the sea, and the intimacy it brings—there’s a unique kind of beauty in it all. Even with the constant rain, Frances and Tom were ready to face the elements. We headed out to the beach for their couple shots, and I have to say, I was blown away by how well Frances handled it.
It was absolutely freezing and very windy, the mist was so thick you couldn’t even see where the sea met the sky, and the rain wasn’t letting up. Yet, Frances, looking stunning in her dress, stood there in the elements like it was nothing. That kind of resilience didn’t come as a surprise when I learned that Frances is a former RNLI boat crew member—she’s no stranger to tough conditions! I honestly wonder if her time with the RNLI helped her handle the cold and rain so gracefully! She was an absolute trooper, and it made for some beautifully natural and raw photos.
Frances and Tom tied the knot at the stunning Oxwich Bay Hotel in Swansea, and despite the relentless rain, the day was filled with warmth, laughter, and joy. Oxwich Bay, with its breathtaking views and rugged charm, was the perfect backdrop for their wedding celebration.
Here is a small selection from their day:
